ShakeOut Earthquake Drill October 18

According to Covington County EMA, Alabama had 115 small earthquakes in the last 10 years. Some of the larger earthquakes in Alabama's history include a 5.2 magnitude in the Birmingham area, and a 4.9 magnitude near Fort Payne according to the Geological Survey of Alabama. If this happened in our community, would we be prepared?

Straughn Elementary School is scheduled to particpate in the annual Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill on October 18, 2018 at 10:18 a.m. We encourage our parents and community members to do the same! Get ready to ShakeOut!
